Dental Hygiene

Healthy teeth mean healthy smiles; seeing your Dental Hygienist regularly is the first step.

To keep your teeth in their optimum health, it is important to see a professional Dental Hygienist for regular 6 month hygiene appointments. As a family dentist, Dr. Nawrot recognizes the importance of good oral health for kids. Giving children the skills they need to take care for their teeth will help them prevent dental complications from occurring later in life.

The Process

At these appointments your Hygienist will examine the overall oral health of your gums and teeth. This includes a thorough cleaning of the teeth and gums, explaining proper at-home care for optimal oral heath, and examining for any oral health concerns, like periodontal (gum) disease or oral cancer. Your Hygienist will take measurements of your gums to keep a record of their health and will inform you of any concerns they see.
It is recommended that a child’s first visit to the Dentist occurs around 1 year old. At this visit we introduce them to our office and examine the health of their gums and teeth. Dr. Nawrot will give important information and tips regarding infant oral care so that you know how to care for your child’s teeth as they develop. We know that a child’s first dental visit can make them a bit nervous, so we always keep these appointments short and positive. We also have a wonderful new kids’ room for your children to play in while they wait to meet our staff.
